# GreenyUrban

> A garden-care and composting company in Nalbari, Assam, India, that also turns farm waste into compost and fibre.

GreenyUrban (GreenyUrban Technologies Pvt Ltd) was founded by Bandita Deka. For homes it offers three garden services: garden maintenance & mali booking (ongoing garden care, or a skilled mali (gardener) for a single visit); new garden setup (a new garden designed and planted around the space, its light and the owner's time); garden consultancy (advice on choosing plants, pests and tired soil). It works on balconies, rooftops and backyards.

It is also building a smart composter for city kitchens and turning areca (betel nut) husks into fibre for textiles and packaging, which gives local farmers an income. An areca fibre machine for farmer co-operatives and a GreenyUrban Android app are in development.

Its own figures: 15+ vermicompost workshops held in schools, 1000+ women trained in sustainable farming, and 50+ composting and gardening solutions built. It is supported by SELCO Foundation, The Hub Jorhat and WEP.
